We Reach Out
Thank you to everyone who makes our outreach ministries possible!
Great news from our church member, Cyprian Obasi -- his
well project is
underway in Nigeria, and water should be flowing as you read this! Thank you to
everyone who has helped support this ministry with financial contributions,
prayers and good wishes!
Also, another global ministry we will be supporting this fall is Feed My
Starving Children. We have 40 spots reserved for Saturday, Oct. 11. You may sign
up to join us through e-mail or by
calling the church office.
We also support ...
-
Loaves and Fishes, where our church
serves needy families in St. Paul on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
-
Children in the Frogtown neighborhood in St. Paul, with donations of 28
backpacks full of school supplies in August, 2008.
-
Christian Cupboard, a food shelf at Woodbury Lutheran Church,
through donations collected every week and through our St. Mary's Guild,
which donates $1,100 each year to the cupboard. For the past two years, we
have sent more than 400 pounds of food to the cupboard. It is also one of
the beneficiaries of our Fall Festival in 2008.
- Heifer International, through a
gift honoring mothers in our parish in May 2008.
-
Tubman Family
Alliance, through a gift to honor the mothers in our parish in May 2008.
-
CROP Walk,
which raises money in October for hunger ministries in the Twin Cities and
around the world.
- Our environment, through our commitment to clean up a highway near Lake
Elmo Park Reserve. Our youth cleaned the area during our Summer Stretch
program in the summer of 2008.
- United Thank Offering,
an effort by the national Episcopal church to raise money for initiatives
for women and children around the world.
- Souper Bowl Sunday, where our parish youth collect money on Super Bowl
Sunday to donate to a hunger relief organization.
- Homeless residents through our collection of new hats and mittens in
December as part of our Advent reflection.
Outreach is also incorporated into many other parts of our parish life. We are blessed to have
young people who serve the Twin Cities and the world through
Summer Stretch
and through various youth group
retreats.
Also, we incorporate outreach ministries through many of our programs, such as
Vacation Bible School. Finally,
we collect current magazines and deliver them to United Hospital, for their
waiting rooms and patients.
